On August 30th, Big Brothers Big Sisters of North & West Niagara is hosting their 28th annual Beatties Bigger Together Charity Golf Classic. Come enjoy 18 holes of golf at St. Catharine’s Golf & Country Club. Afterwards, there will be a dinner and auction, all in support of giving youth the opportunities they deserve. The children and youth Big Brothers Big Sisters serve are provided with the necessary tools and support to overcome life’s adversities. Unlike many other non-profit organizations, Big Brothers Big Sisters must raise 90% of its operation revenues. This comes from annual events and grants from generous sponsors. This year, Golfi sponsors the Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Niagara.
Currently, there are over 200 children and youth on the wait list. Specifically, some who have been waiting for 2 years. At Niagara’s premier private club, all donations and sponsorships will assist in getting children and youth off the wait list. By doing so, they will have the support to develop healthy and independent lifestyles. For 85 years, the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of North & West Niagara has been helping youth reach their full potential. By enabling life-changing mentorships, Big Brothers Big Sisters matches young people to positive, screened, and trained mentors.
At the hand of individual mentoring and group programs, Big Brothers Big Sisters gives youth who have limited contact with positive role models, healthy back and forth relationships. Unfortunately, many children in Canada struggle with societal barriers and adversities in their lives. Above all, these barriers negatively impact their development and future. However, with the support of a mentor these risks can be reduced or even avoided. Presently, more than 50% of youth served in Big Brothers Big Sisters face four or more adversities in their daily lives. While already being vulnerable to mental and physical health problems, COVID-19 has deepened the stress they experience.
With this in mind, RE/MAX Escarpment Golfi Reality Inc. is announcing their involvement in the Charity Golf Classic. This year, Golfi sponsors the Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Niagara. “We are beyond grateful and excited to have the Golfi team on board”, stated Michelle Miller, President of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North & West Niagara. “Their well-known name, years of experience, and extensive community involvement make them a perfect fit for this tournament and will help make it a success”.
RE/MAX Escarpment leader Rob Golfi will be donating $5000. Thus, on behalf of the Golfi Team, their sponsorship will take 5 children and youth off the waiting list. “There is nothing our team loves more than giving back to our community” says Golfi, “we are thrilled to be apart of such an extraordinary program”.
Additionally, there are a variety of sponsorships to choose from to make an impact. Become a Partner Sponsor for $500 to help recruit, train, and screen a volunteer for the program; sponsor $1,000 to become a Champion Sponsor and take 1 child and youth off the wait list; sponsor $2,000 to be a Hero taking 2 children and youth off the wait list; or become a Legend Sponsor for $3,000 which will take 3 children and youth off the wait list.
According to a recent survey, for every dollar given to mentorship, the study showed an $18-23 return to the community. You can make an impact and be part of the reason why 80% of children and youth pursue a healthy lifestyle. “Giving children access to the opportunities they deserve is the bare minimum” says Golfi. “A donation or sponsorship will change an entire life, I encourage anybody who is able to donate to do so”.
